Description
Longleaf pine (Pinus palustris Mill.) is native to parts of the Western Gulf region. The Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) is a widely available comprehensive yield prediction system for these plantations. Predictions from the time-of-planting were obtained for planting densities of 300, 500, and 700 for site indexes of 50, 60, 70, and 80 ft (base age 25). This study will determine the optimal planting density given assumed current reforestation and management costs and management and stumpage revenues.
