Popularly owned by wealthy nonordained people, a Psalter was a religious book and can be otherwise known as the Book of Psalms. The purpose of the Psalter or The book of Psalms was a selection of scripture that was short enough to be used for reading and discussion as well as portable for a person to bring with them.
