New Frontiers 2019-20 Brochure
Established in 2013, the New Frontiers in Biomedical Research Seminar Series is a year-long research lecture series at Louisiana Tech University. This series brings world-renowned researchers from a variety of biomedical fields to campus where students and faculty have the opportunity to learn and interact with leaders in their fields of study. These seminars represent the interests and efforts of different colleges and academic programs across campus who share a passion for research that seeks to understand and improve human health and medicine.
Starting in November, all seminars will be held at Louisiana Tech University in University Hall beginning at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. All events are open to the public.

This year the series continues to grow and represent the interdisciplinary nature of biomedical research with seminars on diet and physiology, neuroscience, biomechanics, computational modeling, and medical visualization and communication.
Please join us in welcoming and learning from nationally recognized researchers and scientific communicators in our annual seminar series. You will learn about cutting-edge research that is changing the way we address problems in biological research and human health, the tools we use to study them, and the methods used to educate and inform patients.

New Frontiers 2017-18 Brochure
Some of this year’s highlights include Louisiana Tech graduate, Dr. Patrick Cobb, who will discuss new areas of cancer therapy and Dr. Deanna Gates, hosted by the Department of Kinesiology, who will present on the optimization of prosthetics. In the continued partnership with Louisiana Tech’s School of Design, the series will host Mr. Scott Barrows, Director of Medical Visualization at Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center, who will present on the professional field of medical illustration and the need for visual communication of science. We are looking forward to another exciting year of learning about new areas of research and sharing the University’s own research programs with our guests.

New Frontiers 2016-17 Brochure
This year the New Frontiers in Biomedical Research Seminar Series continues to expand to a critical area beyond the research bench to explore related career paths and the responsibility of research and education. In collaboration with Louisiana Tech’s Waggoner Center and Sigma Xi the series will host Dr. Karen Oates, Dean of Arts & Sciences at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She will speak on her involvement in promoting civic engagement and responsibility of scientists. In the continued partnership with Louisiana Tech’s School of Design, the series will host Ms. Natalie Doolittle, Director of Medical Animation, High Impact & Syntropy Studios who will present on the professional field of medical illustration and the need for visual communication of science. Over the last three years the series has continued to grow and demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of biomedical research. New Frontiers 2014-15 Brochure
Please join us for two special lectures by Dr. Nicholas Peppas and Dr. Robert Clarke. Dr. Peppas will discuss current advances in diabetes-related research, diagnosis, and treatment. Dr. Clarke will present recent advancements in cancer research, prevention, and treatments. These lectures are open to the public and will begin at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow. Dr. Peppas will present on Monday, September 15, 2014, in Louisiana Tech’s University Hall 134, and Dr. Clarke will present on Monday, March 23, 2015, in Louisiana Tech’s Institute for Micromanufacturing Auditorium.

In addition, join us for two special lectures by Dr. Lucio Miele and Dr. Louis Guillette. They will talk about recent advancements in cancer research, prevention, and treatments. These lectures are open to the public and will be held Monday, September 16, and Monday January 27 at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center at 6 p.m.
